Giant banana!
On the front of this comically large banana, a helpful person has affixed this note: “This is a giant banana.” I am fond of this item, although I question the use of the dark green coloring at the bottom end – not consistent with the rest of the fruit’s color, given that it appears to be ripe enough to eat. Of course, that presumes that somebody is hungry enough to eat a banana that is much, much larger than it really ought to be.

Alan replied:
I think the sign is a tribute to Magritte’s “This is not a pipe” painting, which challenged the viewer to admit that, indeed, it is a painting of a pipe. The giant banana, however, challenges the viewer to agree that it is a “giant banana,” which it clearly isn’t. A banana, I mean.
Any fool who’s been to the produce section of thier local grocer’s would know that it is in fact a giant plantain.
